INTERVIEW WITH DAVIDE ALBANI

Who?
I was born in 1988 and grew up in Pescara, Italy, a little seaside town on the Adriatic sea. I graduated in Engineering in Milan, where I currently live and work for a consulting company.
Although I discovered photography early in my life – when I used to play with film cameras, it was only in 2014 that this passion burst again, when I came across Street Photography and it was love at first sight. Since then, I am trying as much as I can to commit myself to this genre.
I am founder and member of the Italian Street Photography collective © Eyegobananas.

Where?
I have really no constraints on this, from public to private places, on an airplane or underwater, in Italy or wherever on earth, it does not really matter.

When?
I would really like to say “always” or “whenever I can”, though actually I mostly shoot during the weekends and holidays, since working takes most of my time. Normally, this means only a few hours per month, unfortunately. Nonetheless, I keep training my eyes somehow by observing and paying attention to what surrounds me.

What?
Looking at my body of work, I realize that I might range from pictures with different subjects on multi layers and a nice light, to surreal scenes. But, even though I may have something in mind, such as a kind of guidelines that I try to follow, in the end I realize that I simply shoot what thrills and moves me, even if it is totally different from what I was looking for.
It is more like an instinct, a spark, rather than a real process.

Why?
Photography somehow completes me, it fills in my life, making everything less ordinary.
To me, photography is not a purpose, it is a reason.
